About Robb
Robb began his journey in music at a very young age. By 13, he was working as a soloist and ensemble performer with local jazz, pop, and rock groups as a singer, guitarist, and saxophonist. His interests quickly turned towards storytelling through sound, inspired by film composers such as Howard Shore, Jerry Goldsmith, Hans Zimmer, and John Williams.
Soon, Robb began studying new musical styles, including classical, musical theatre, and electronic music. During his university studies, he discovered his love for theory, musical analysis, and performance practice, focusing on composers and artists that defied genre.
Robb served as a full-time teacher for several years, working with students of all ages and levels, specializing as a percussion instructor. At this time, he developed a deep familiarity with wind instrument performance technique. During this period, Robb used his experience to create highly contrapuntal works using unique instruments and sounds, composing pieces for wind ensemble, found instruments, and percussion ensemble.
A charter member and creative lead with international collective Sonic Gate Studios, Robb is currently based in Boston as a composer, songwriter, educator, and performer. He serves on the faculty at Salem State University and teaches clinics and masterclasses across the northeast United States. He frequently collaborates with New York artists to create and explore new works that push boundaries and blur the lines between classical, electronic, and popular music.
Robb holds an MA in Scoring for Visual Media from Pulse College, in Dublin, Ireland.
